Branding photography is how companies communicate their personality, image, uniqueness, and professionalism, especially to potential customers. A common challenge for many companies is effectively communicating the what and how of what they do.
Through my work’s attention to detail, my use of lighting techniques, and careful care with scene composition, I work together with several companies and clients to breach this information gap.
But why do we actually need stories?
And why do we need storytelling for business?
People like to turn to interesting and emotional stories: in fact, stories simply give value, relevance, and meaning in information overload. A story with an exciting title stands out from the flood of boring information. The more emotionally charged a story is, the easier it is for us to focus our attention on it. Storytelling is not about telling fairy tales, but rather about the journalistic task of getting and keeping attention. Neurobiologists have known for a long time, that if information is not given attention within five seconds, it is lost. Our brain does not store information as a 1:1 representation of reality but translates the sensory stimuli into a pattern. Existing patterns are compared and supplemented with new stimuli and patterns. Our perception is therefore never objective and is influenced by known patterns. Storytelling creates these patterns that our brain can optimally consume and store. Stories about brands are therefore remembered longer and consumers can remember them more easily.
